A Portion of 1/1000 of the Louvre

So, I went to the Louvre for the second time last night, and I actually remembered to bring my camera with me this time! The Louvre is a) absolutely gorgeous and b) amazingly huge. I spent two hours there and probably only saw 1/1000 of the collection on display to the public. Here are a few of the things I saw:

A Sphinx! In Paris?

Grease lightning! The "do" originated in ancient Italian Patrician hairstyles.

Several hundred different renditions of Mary and Jesus. I thought this one was one of the nicest ones. It was made in 1500.

Here's a closeup. Look at all that detail!

Here's to give you an idea what the Louvre itself looks like. This is a little alcove in the basement.

A very unhappy looking guy from Vienna in 1770.

Several statues by Michelangelo. This one is called "the Dying Slave." He doesn't look like he's dying to me. . . .

The outside of the Louvre at night from the inside.

"The Psyche reanimated by the kiss of Love"
I wonder which one is love and which one is Psyche. . .

The Duke de Richelieu says talk to the hand, ladies!

A statue of Minerva, warrior goddess. Let's take a closer look at what she's holding. . . .

It's Pigwidgeon from Harry Potter. The Wizards are at it again!
